CNA EXAM PREP CLASS INFORMATION

Our facility offers a class to help prepare students to take the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Exam. Students are given the opportunity to learn CNA skills in a clinical laboratory setting. Students are taught by nurses with years of experience in a variety of patient care settings.

Our classroom instruction includes an introduction to health care including topics such as basic nursing assistant skills, theory behind infection control principles, resident rights and current safety practices.

Our clinical portion of the program is conducted in the laboratory within our facility. Students have the opportunity to put into practical use all the 21 skills necessary for obtaining a state license as a certified nursing assistant. All students receive individual instructor-demonstrated skills and exhibit learning by return demonstration and supervised practice.

Upon completion of the 3 week class, all students will be scheduled for the Florida State Certified Nursing Assistant Examination. 
 

Educational Requirements

You must be either over 18 years old, or have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. If you are 17, you will need to have parental permission in addition to your high school diploma or GED.


Our Faculty and Facility

All classes are taught in our teaching centers at 115 College Drive, Orange Park and 25 Deltona Blvd. Suite 5, St. Augustine. Our classes are taught by licensed nurses who are current in all required fields for training CNAs. Our program is overseen by a registered nurse with specialized training in education. Our facilities have all the up to date equipment and are continually updating any needed articles to provide the most current learning experience for our students



120 HOUR CNA PROGRAM INFORMATION

In addition to the prep class, we offer students another  option to obtain their CNA license. This class is focused on teaching students to become a nursing assistant and gain employment in an entry level position under the supervision of a licensed nurse. As a nursing assistant, students will be responsible for assisting patients in meeting their physical and emotional needs and will play an important role in the delivery of quality health care.

Our facility offers a class to help prepare students to take the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Exam. Students are given the opportunity to learn CNA skills in a clinical laboratory setting. Students are taught by nurses with years of experience in a variety of patient care settings.

Our clinical portion of the program is conducted in the laboratory within our facility and also includes 40 hours in a local nursing facility. Students have the opportunity to put into practical use all the 21 skills necessary for obtaining a state license as a certified nursing assistant. All students receive individual instructor-demonstrated skills and exhibit learning by return demonstration and supervised practice.

Upon completion of the 120 hour class, all students will be scheduled for the Florida State Certified Nursing Assistant Examination. 

This is a state approved program and all students successfully passing this program will receive a diploma.

Educational Requirements

You must be either over 18 years old, or have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. If you are 17, you will need to have a parent or guardian sign the enrollment agreement. All students must have a valid social security number prior to enrolling in this class..

CPR CLASS INFORMATION

We offer the "BLS for Healthcare Providers" as per AHA guidelines. This class is given for those who are working or plan to work in the medical field.  To ensure the best success for our students, STS Training Services provides a designated classroom with space available for individuals to practice their CPR skills. And as with our CNA class, all the instructors are nurses who have valuable knowledge and experience in CPR . In addition to that, we provide a classroom that is a comfortable, relaxed environment that is conducive to student learning.

The students each have their own manikin to use during class and all the required supplies to become successful at CPR. As part of this class, students will learn CPR for an adult, child and infant. Also included is the use of masks, bag masks and the AED.

At the conclusion of this class, students will be given a written and skills test. Upon successfully completing and passing the tests, students will receive their "BLS for Healthcare Provider" CPR card. This card is good for 2 years and can be renewed at our facility.  


FIRST AID CLASS INFORMATION


We offer the First Aid course as per AHA guidelines. THis class provides first responders with training in basic first-aid procedures including the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA in a format that can be delivered in a single day.

It also offers an elective module in environmental emergencies.

This course  is intended for all individuals who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

This class follows the CPR class and is concluded by successful completion of all components required by the AHA guidelines.



BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS CLASS INFORMATION


This class follows the First Aid class and is 1 hour long. 

The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.

Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens uses the PACT acronym and slogan to help students learn and retain what to do when there is danger of or has been exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the workplace:

  • Protect yourself from exposure
  • Act when exposed
  • Clean yourself and the area involved
  • Tell or report any exposure


PHLEBOTOMY CLASS INFORMATION



We offer a phlebotomy continuing education workshop that will assist students in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to perform venipuncture safely and accurately. This class includes learning to perform venipunctures, correct processing and handling of specimens, performing skin punctures, blood cultures and practicing infection control procedures and other components related to blood testing. This class also prepares you to take the National Certifying Exam. THIS EXAM IS GIVEN AT OUR FACILITY!

This class is continuing education and is targeted only for individuals that already have basic knowledge in  health care. This could include CNA, HHA, MA or someone who is looking to refresh previously learned phlebotomy skills.  

This class is a 40 hour class and is taught at our training center in Orange Park. It is offered every other month with class hours being 8:30am to 5:00pm, Weekends only. It is taught by a licensed Medical Technologist with many years of training and experience in various laboratory settings.

 

     At the conclusion of the class, students will be scheduled for the National Certifying Exam. This exam is offered as part of the class and exam fees are included in the class cost. 
 

HOME HEALTH AIDE CLASS INFORMATION

We offer a Home Health Aide training class that is a state approved program. It is 80 hours in length and meets over a course of 4 weeks. This class provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the home care environment as a HHA. 

Students will receive a diploma upon successfully graduating from this program.

This class meets in our training center in Orange Park and is offered every other month. Hours for the class are 8:30-2:00pm or 5:00pm-10:00pm. This class meets Monday through Thursday. The final week for this class meets during the morning class time only.
